耶耶亚哇舞龙队成立于1974年，由叶赐贵先生(MR. YAP SU KWEE) 带领着 (MR. YAP HENG SOON, MR. TAN LEONG SENG, MR. CHONG LAI HUAT & ETC) 等数十来位前辈向庙理事会要求成立龙队。並于同年参加王室苏丹主办的文化比赛荣获亚军。
当时是叶赐贵先生担任第一任主任。龙队主要是每年参与柔佛州的古庙大游行。直到1990年蔡海钦市议员接任主任一职后，进行改革，同时邀请新加的坡刘浩顺师父和易荣源师父前来教导夜光龙技术，并于同年前往泰国哥乐市护国宫进行表演。
1991年本龙队第一次参加由柔佛州武术龙狮总会主办的夜光龙公开赛获得亚军。接着在蔡主任的带领下，先后前往新加坡，泰国，香港，德国，比利时，荷兰，美国等国家进行表演与交流。2006年蔡主任卸任后，由邢福添先生继续带领着龙队发展至今。
龙队在1991年参赛到今日，凡是由全国武术龙狮总会主办的比赛都积极参与，除了1997年缺席于全柔赛以外，其余的赛事从来不曾缺席过。
本龙队也是全国唯一一支荣获奖项最多的龙队。
本龙队更在2008年，2010年，2012年和2014年荣获全国龙狮锦标赛四连冠的佳绩。
2001年香港世界夜光龙锦标赛亚军。
2012年拿下香港世界夜光龙锦标赛冠军，也在印尼雅加达亚洲龙狮锦标赛荣获一金两银的成绩。
2013年台湾亚洲公开赛，获得两银一铜。
龙队再接再厉，更在2014年一年里荣获国内外13个冠军奖项，其中包括
1月香港世界夜光龙锦标赛冠军，唯一一支蝉联的队伍。
4月由LONGSHI.COM主办的龙王杯获得夜光龙冠军，鼓乐冠军和全场总冠军。
6月至10月全柔夜光龙巡回联赛，获得4场分站冠军和全场总冠军。
10月印尼巴厘亚洲龙狮锦标赛两个冠军。
12月全国龙狮公开赛，荣获夜光龙冠军和全场总冠军。
从1990年成立夜光龙至今，龙队荣获的冠军数目经已超过30个，
希望全体龙队理事与队员再接再厉把夜光龙发扬光大。 1974:
Yahya Awal Dragon Dance Troupe was established in 1974 upon the request made to the Council Member of the Yahya Awal Ang Siang Tai Tee Temple. The idea of establishing the Dragon Dance Troupe was proposed by a group of senior personnel led by MR. YAP SU KWEE along with MR. YAP HENG SOON, MR. TAN LEONG SENG, MR. CHONG LAI HUAT & ETC. In the same year, the Dragon Dance Team participated in “CULTURAL COMPETITION hosted by the Royal Sultan of Johor” and won the First Runner-up.
MR. YAP SU KWEE was appointed as the first director of Yahya Awal Dragon Dance Troupe. The team has then been participating in the Annual Johor Chingay Event until today.
1990:
Mr. Chua Hai Qing took over the position of MR. YAP SU KWEE in 1990. He was keen in bringing up the level of the Dragon Dance Team. One of the great evolution was to invite Master Lau Hao Soon and Master Ek Eng Guan from Singapore to impart the skill and technique of Luminous Dragon Dance to Yahya Awal Dragon Dance Troupe. The team has managed to capture the limelight and was invited to perform at Sungaikolok , Thailand in the same year.
1991:
The Dragon Dance Troupe participated the luminous dragon dance competition organized by Persekutuan Wushu, Tarian Naga & Singa Johor for the first time in 1991 and won the trophy of First Runner-up. Under the leadership of Mr. Chua Hai Qing, the team was invited for performance and cultural exchange in several countries across the globe such as USA, Hong Kong, Germany, Belgium, Netherland, Thailand, Singapore and etc.
2006:
Mr. Chua resigned from his position and Mr. Heng Pok Hiam continued and led the Dragon Dance Team to grow to a greater height which we are seeing today.
It is worth to mention that our team has been actively participating in all the events organized by Wushu Federation of Malaysia since the first team’s appearance in 1991 with the exception of the dragon dance competition of the Johor state of year 1997.
Yahya Awal Dragon Dance Troupe has won the most award among all the Dragon Dance Troupe in Malaysia.
We have won the championship in the dragon dance competition of Malaysia in the year 2008，2010，2012 and 2014. It was a great achievement for crowning it 4 times consecutively.
2001: World Hong Kong Luminous Dragon & Lion Dance Championships First Runner-up。
2012: Won the championships in World Hong Kong Luminous Dragon & Lion Dance Championships 2012. In addition to that, we were awarded with 1 Gold and 2 Silver metals in Asian Dragon and Lion Dance Championship at Jakarta.
2013: Asian Dragon and Lion Dance Championship at Taiwan，awarded with 2 Silvers and 1 Bronze metals.
2014: With the persistent efforts and the continuous improvement of the team members, we have won 13 championships in different competitions including national and international platform which includes:
January World Hong Kong Luminous Dragon & Lion Dance Championships 2014 Champion，the only team who has managed to win this tournament consecutively in the history.
April - Awarded with the Champion in the Luminous Dragon Dance Category, Drum Band Champion & Overall Champion organized by LONG.COM
June to October The rotation of the Luminous dragon dance of Johor，Awarded with four Sub-Champion & Overall Champion.
October 3rd Asian Dragon and Lion Dance Championship Bali 2014 Awarded with two Champions.
December National Dragon and Lion Dance Open 2014 Malaysia，awarded with the Champion in Luminous Dragon Category and Overall Champion.
From its founding in 1990, Yahya Awal Dragon Dance Troupe has won more than 30 titles. The entire team of Yahya Awal will continue the spirit to continue promoting the Chinese Culture and Luminous Dragon Dance to the world.
